mailbox we can confirm, nobody can get you back in. Not even the operator.

Two-factor authentication
An extra code from an app on your phone, asked for when you sign in here.
Mail apps cannot be asked for a code, so once this is on they need an app
password instead.
Add this to your authenticator app, then type the code it shows to
finish. Until you do, nothing has changed.

Each works once, and they are the only way in if you lose your phone.
They are not shown again.
App passwords
A separate password for one app or device, which you can take back without
changing your own password. Give each device its own, so losing one costs
you that device and nothing else.

Create one
Changing your own password cancels every app password at once, so you
would need to set your apps up again. That is deliberate: if you change
your password because something went wrong, everything should stop.
Use another mail app
You can read this mailbox in Apple Mail, Outlook, Thunderbird, K-9 and
anything else that speaks IMAP. Most apps only need your address and
password — they find the rest themselves.
The easy way
Choose “other mail account” and type your full address and
password. Thunderbird and most mobile apps look the settings up and fill
them in. If your app asks for them anyway, they are below.

Calendar and contacts
Add a CalDAV account for the calendar and a CardDAV account for contacts.
On iPhone, Mac and DAVx5 the address alone is enough; if the app asks for
a server, use this one.
App by app
Every one of these is encrypted — there is no unencrypted way in,
by design. If an app offers “no encryption” or asks you to
accept a certificate warning, something is wrong; stop and tell the
operator.
